2FA: Authenticator App (PrivacyIDEA) registrieren

Voraussetzungen

  • Um dieser Anleitung zu folgen, installieren Sie bitte die privacyIDEA Authenticator-App von NetKnights GmbH auf Ihrem Mobilgerät (Smartphone, Tablet). PrivacyIDEA Authenticator gilt als privacy- und benutzerfreundliche Open Source Variante.

  • Vor Einführung von Conditional Access prüfen Sie bitte zusätzlich, ob ihr zentral verwaltetes WU Gerät “compliant” ist. Dies gilt für alle managed clients (WU Smartphone, WU Tablets, WU Notebooks). Siehe WU-Gerät: Compliance prüfen für Details.

Wenn Sie eine andere Authenticator-App verwenden möchten, nutzen Sie bitte eine der allgemein empfohlenen Authenticator-Apps von bekannten Unternehmen.

 

  1. Öffnen Sie die Seite My Sign-Ins | Security Info | Microsoft.com auf Ihrem WU Notebook.

    1. Melden Sie sich mit Ihrer WU-Mailadresse (vorname.nachname@wu.ac.at) an.

    2. Wählen Sie anschließend Weiter.

  1. Geben Sie Ihr WU Accountpasswort ein und wählen Sie Anmelden.

  1. Geben Sie Ihren zweiten Faktor (OTP-Token; Einmalpasswort) an.

Hinweis
Vor der Umstellung auf Conditional Access nutzen Sie dafür den bisherigen zweiten Faktor, den Sie im Controlpanel verwalten können.

  1. Öffnen Sie den Eintrag Sicherheitsinformationen auf der Webseite. Wählen Sie Anmeldemethode hinzufügen.

  1. Wählen Sie als neue Anmeldemethode Microsoft Authenticator.

Diese Auswahl legt generell fest, dass Sie eine Authenticator-App registrieren.

  1. Um eine alternative Authenticator-App (=nicht Microsoft Authenticator) für 2FA zu registrieren, wählen Sie Ich möchte eine andere Authenticator-App verwenden.

  1. Folgen Sie den Anweisungen auf Ihrem Notebook. Wählen Sie Weiter.

Die nächsten Schritte setzen voraus, dass die privacyIDEA Authenticator-App auf Ihrem Mobilgerät installiert ist (siehe Voraussetzungen oben).

  1. Öffnen Sie die privacyIDEA Authenticator-App auf Ihrem Mobilgerät.
    Wählen Sie das QR-Symbol aus, um einen neuen Token zu scannen.

  1. Erlauben Sie der Authenticator-App den Zugriff auf die Kamera.

  1. Scannen Sie den QR-Code, der Ihnen auf dem Notebook angezeigt wird.
    Wählen Sie anschließend Weiter.

  1. In der Authenticator-App auf Ihrem Mobilgerät wird nun ein sechsstelliger Code angezeigt (=One-Time Password = OTP). Daneben sehen Sie, wie lange dieser Code noch gültig ist.

  1. Geben Sie den sechsstelligen OTP auf Ihrem Notebook ein.
    Wählen Sie anschließend Weiter, um den Registrierungsprozess abzuschließen.

  1. Die Authenticator-App wurde erfolgreich registriert.

2FA: Register any other Authenticator App (e.g. privacyIDEA)

Requirements

  • To follow this guide, please install the privacyIDEA Authenticator app from NetKnights GmbH on your mobile device (smartphone, tablet). PrivacyIDEA Authenticator is considered a privacy-friendly and user-friendly open-source variant.

  • Before introducing Conditional Access, please also check whether your centrally managed WU device is “compliant.” This applies to all managed clients (WU smartphones, WU tablets, WU notebooks). See WU-Gerät: Compliance prüfen for details.

If you want to use a different authenticator app, please use one of the generally recommended authenticator apps from well-known companies.

  1. Open the page My Sign-Ins | Security Info | Microsoft.com on your WU notebook.

    1. Log in with your WU email address (vorname.nachname@wu.ac.at).

    2. Then select Continue.

  1. Please provide your second factor (OTP token; one-time password).

Note
Before switching to Conditional Access use the previous second factor that you can manage in the control panel.

  1. Open the entry Security Information on the website. Select Add login method.

  1. Choose Microsoft Authenticator as the new login method.

This selection generally specifies that you will register an authenticator app.

  1. To register an alternative authenticator app (=not Microsoft Authenticator) for 2FA, select I want to use a different authenticator app.

  1. Follow the instructions on your notebook. Select Next.

The next steps require that the privacyIDEA Authenticator app is installed on your mobile device (see Prerequisites above).

  1. Open the privacyIDEA Authenticator app on your mobile device.
    Select the QR symbol to scan a new token.

  1. Allow the authenticator app to access the camera.

  1. Scan the QR code that is displayed on the notebook.
    Then select Continue.

  1. In the Authenticator app on your mobile device, a six-digit code is now displayed (=One-Time Password = OTP). Next to it, you can see how long this code is still valid.

  1. Enter the six-digit OTP on your notebook.
    Then select Next to complete the registration process.

  1. The authenticator app has been successfully registered.
